With this safari, you will skip across the equator, seeing species that are only found in the northern hemisphere, such as Grevy’s zebras, Beisa Oryxes, Somali ostrich and the gerenuk. You then head back to southern hemisphere, where you will visit the Masai Mara, sight of the great migration, as well as Lake Nakuru, where you can see rhinos.
Day 1 Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve
Pick-up from Nairobi in the early morning. You then drive northward through Nanyuki town, crossing the northern most foothills of Mount Kenya, until we reach Isiolo town and then head down into the thorny landscape of Samburu. Arrive for lunch and an afternoon safari drive.
Day 2 Samburu National Reserve
Before dawn we head out in search of Africa's wild cats. Samburu is rich in wildlife not seen in other parts of Kenya. Here, you will find the long-necked gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, endangered Beisa Oryx and the blue - shanked Somali ostrich, all common to the northern province of Kenya. Watch for elephant, rhino, lion, and buffalo. An occasional crocodile will appear on the banks of the Uaso Ngiro River. From the safari drive we return to the camp for breakfast and some relaxation, read a book/novel, sunbathe before heading out again on your afternoon safari drive.
Day 3 Samburu National Reserve to Lake Nakuru National Park
Early morning safari drive. After breakfast depart for Lake Nakuru to arrive for lunch. Thereafter proceed to the park for afternoon safari drive until sunset and return to your camp. The park is regarded by avid birders' as the greatest World ornithological spectacle on the Earth and is currently a Rhino and Rothchild’s giraffe sanctuary.
Day 4 Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast drive to Masai Mara Game (Wildlife) Reserve, the unspoiled Savannah. After lunch and some time for relaxation, your guide will take you for an afternoon safari drive in search of the shy and elusive leopard, lions, buffalo, and many others. As the sun starts to edge its way dip into the African horizon it will be the perfect opportunity to capture the beautiful Mara landscape on film.
Day 5 Masai Mara National Reserve
Morning breakfast at the tented camp after which you will head out with picnic lunch boxes and spend the day in the reserve exploring and experience nature in its raw form. The landscape is breathtaking with its network of roads specially constructed for game viewing. Break for lunch at a picnic site then continue spotting wild animals until early evening when you return to the camp.
Day 6 Masai Mara National Reserve to Nairobi
Have an early morning safari drive at sunrise then return to the camp for late breakfast. Leave the park and drive to Narok for lunch. Drive on arriving in Nairobi in the late afternoon where your safari ends with drop off at your Nairobi Hotel.
